Looking for a super rare & unique soft coral that almost no one has? Look no further! My Green Snake Polyp - Isarus elongatus is it!
It's reported this coral is rarely ever brought into the US, you want to grab one while I have them as they are almost never available for purchase! Locals have snagged any pieces I've had up to this point!
Said to be in the Zoanthid family, it has similar care requirements. Typically found in the lower more sediment regions of reef areas it tolerates lower light but it is what I call a bi-food animal where it photosynthesizes but also feeds on zooplankton at night - where the ends of each "tube" opens up & extends a white fringe which captures food particles.
More commonly found in shades of brown, I've had this even rarer deep green colony many years & have found it to be hardy. It tends to color up more with good light. I never direct feed it but my systems have fish that are fed & they're well established so if going into a tank under a year old, I might suggest considering supplemental feeding once a week.
