Moorish Idol - Zanclus canescens
Sample video below (pictures above are examples only)
Size approx. 4-5" Nose to tail
Max Adult Size Approx. 7" nose to tail.
Known for being difficult, I have found they are no more difficult to keep than a Tang. Problem with Moorish Idols is that they stress easily & once very stressed, will stop eating. For me it was a matter of finding a supplier that purchased theirs from ethical collectors, those who handled these magnificent animals properly, from collection through to me! Then I figured out what I needed to do to get them eating. Once they are, they are golden.
Moorish Idols will act just like a puppy dog when it gets to know it's owner/family. Not shy at all, you will be rewarded by this beautiful fish who will come to greet you & want to play!
This fish is safe to be in a tank with my aquacultured tank raised soft corals for sale on this website including Branching & Leather soft corals, Toadstool soft corals, Polyp soft corals, Mushroom & Ricordea soft corals, Zoanthid soft corals, Xenia soft corals, Gorgonian and Sponge soft corals, LPS hard corals as well as SPS hard corals. Please be aware that they need to be fed Nori Seaweed in the morning to graze on during the day to ensure they don't develop bad behaviors like picking on things/corals they shouldn't. If provided Nori & PE Mysis Shrimp & ON Formula 2 Flake foods later in the day they should be model citizens in a tank. :c)
Note: Heavy Shipper
